Want to knit a beautiful cowl with simple lace stitches and that’s quick to knit?
A Taste of Honey Cowl is the perfect choice if you love knitting with worsted weight yarn.
When Barbara Ammerman of Woollyside approached me about collaborating on her cowl pattern, I couldn’t say yes fast enough.
So fast, in fact, that I just had to cast on one of my own before we even had all the details sorted out! I chose the Mad for Madder colorway. It’s a fascinating color because in some light is tends towards a darker pink, in other light is heads more towards an orange-coral. However, it’s beautiful in whatever the light!
Three new colorways were designed specifically for this gorgeous cowl (they coordinate with the other colorways in the Cheerful & Bright Collection perfectly)! And, because I love to offer choices, I’ve also assembled a few undyed colorways to choose from too. Please see the photos for colorway names.
Each kit includes:
- A download code for the pattern
- 2 – 100g skeins of yarn
My favorite part about knitting this was the fun honeycomb lace pattern. It was quite intuitive so I didn’t find myself jumping back and forth between my knitting and pattern too much. It’s just a really great, engaging knit.
Barbara originally designed this pattern with other yarn, but her choice of the Marigold colorway fits perfectly with her vision. Here is what she has to say about her pattern:
“I’ve been interested in beekeeping and the amazing properties of honey, so when I saw this delicious yellow yarn, I knew I had to create a cowl that would combine the geometry of honeycomb with my love of eyelet lace. The lace pattern for this cowl is
worked flat with a garter border that drips its way throughout the warm, golden glow of Malabrigo’s Frank Ochre. While designing this cowl I was reminded of Herb Alpert’s arrangement of A Taste of Honey – what perfect name for a piece inspired by the busy bee! Enjoy a hot cup of tea while knitting this cowl, and don’t forget to add a nice big spoonful of honey!”
As always, every skein purchased plants a tree through One Tree Planted AND $1 is donated to Harmony Farm Animal Sanctuary in Sisters, Oregon. Donations are made on the first Monday of the month. See Our Values for the most up-to-date information.
